This course introduces the students to Saudi labor law. This course examines the history of Saudi labor law and its development. The course will compare the rights and duties of an employee with the rights and duties of an employer. It presents the legal terminologies used in Saudi labor law and introduces them to the general provisions of the law. It details the conditions of employment both for Saudi and Non-Saudi workers. The course also discusses work contracts and its termination, duties of employers and workers, and disciplinary penalties which could be imposed. Details of work conditions and circumstances regarding wages, working hours, rest periods, rest days, annual leaves are also presented. The course also describes protection against hazards and services which the employer needs to provide to workers in terms of compensation for work injuries and social services. The course concludes by shedding a light on employment related issues for women and minors.
